Most of the team, we were thrilled. What a great night
On the 6th of May I wernt to London with my wife to attend The Dental Awards at The Lancaster Hotel. I was there with the team that went to Morocco on a Charity mission and adventure to help and treat needy children. We had been nominated and short listed for team of the year. We won team of the year (north) and came runners up for the UK. It was a fantastic night and great to meet up again. We can’t wait for our return in September.
On the back of the award we now have got more sponsorship from dental companies to help make even more of a difference to these kids.Thanks for the sponsorship we are really chuffed. More dentists to go this year and more kit to take. Our aim ot to setbup some sort of clinic so yhe kids can have all year round dental care and education. If this gets up and running then maybe we can start another project for more needy kids. This is the aim.
I went over to Grimsby this morning to review the papers on BBC Radio Humberside on The Lara King Show between 9 & 10 0′clock. I had a right laugh. It was great fun. I’m going to be on again in July. Lara is a really good host and puts you at ease. We discussed the Morocco Charity and the oral cancer study that I helped to organise, run and host as well as the newspapers
Hi, i was talking to Lara King on BBC Radio Humberside again today. I went through to Grimsby to meet her and she was really nice. I was discussing oral cancer as it is on the the increase with a more marked increase in young women.
I also discussed some of the recent studies and evidence to show how smoking, increased alcohol consumption and lack of folic acid with low fruit and veg intake can increase the risk. Early detection is the key to a successful recovery. Therefore regular careful monitoring at the dentist is key.
As Hull and East Riding Chairman I am part of a committee that has organised a study day that includes a half day on the subject for local dentists and dentists from further afield.

I was on BBC radio Humberside today reading the papers between 9-10 and 9-50 am with David Reeves who was in for Lara King. I had a right laugh. Really enjoyed it. They have asked me back to do it again in March. They have also asked me back on 5th January to discuss the increase in oral cancer and some new evidence available to give advice on how to keep the risk low.
J.C. from Cottingham was a bit shy for his name to be put on this but he was thrilled with the results. Other Hull dentists said that it couldn’t be done but we did it!!! I’m so chuffed
