Here at Castle Park we realise that when we are busy it is not always easy to let each
other know when we have do something special so we have set up a ‘Cheers for Peers’ award to make sure that we recognise these special achievements.
Team members are able to send cheers at anytime of the day or night to let others know just how much they are appreciated . These cheers are added up at the end of each month and the person who has achieved the most is awarded with a special treat.

Cottingham dentist Chris Branfield makes aid mission to help Syrian refugees
A Cottingham dentist helped dozens of refugees from war-torn Syria following a special aid trip to visit them.
Chris Branfield, who owns the Castle Park dental practice in Cottingham, visited three refugee camps during a five day stay in northern Greece.
Chris took part in the relief work as a trustee and founder member of charity Dental Mavericks, who give care to children with no access to a dentist.
They treated around 60 patients during the visit, which included setting up a pop-up clinic in an apartment block where refugees were living.
The dentist said that people in the camps were suffering and he wanted to find a way to help.
He said: “The foundation’s been going since 2010, and everything we’ve been doing has been about giving care to people who simply aren’t getting it.
“We’ve been travelling to places such as Morocco where a lot of people were unable to get necessary dental care, and with the refugee crisis this year it made sense to go to Greece.
“You can take things like dental care for granted. A lot of them had nothing, so just staying healthy is really important. We took some people’s teeth out, gave them fillings, whatever was needed.”
He said: “It was sub-zero temperatures, but there were children walking around with no socks. Most of them had nothing.
“It’s not just about looking after teeth, but looking after people.”
Chris said that he was touched by the refugees he met in Greece and hopes that others can try to help them too.
“There was one kid, he was probably about six years old, who came and he smiling the whole way through whilst I was giving local anaesthetic,” he said.
“He was in this horrendous situation but was still smiling. That’s why we do it.
“There’s a lot that goes on in the papers about refugees but that’s not what we saw. They were happy to meet us, and really nice people. Nearly all families stuck in a really bad situation.”Read the original article here

A big thank you to Janet from the Hedon Methodist Church. Janet has been collecting tooth brushes and tooth paste for the kids of Morocco, following on from a presentation that Chris did about the Dental Mavericks charity.

Football Tournament in Morocco
Late last year we were given the opportunity to sponsor a local football team in Morocco as part of our ongoing support of Dental Mavericks.
We’re glad to say the tournament was a huge success, and a great time was had by all.
Thanks to the Rifcom team for inviting us to come along so that we could contribute to the oral hygiene education of the football teams.
Each dental practice that was involved donated a football kit, kit bag, water bottle to each team.
Well done to Khizana for winning second time around.
