Meet The Dentists
“Adventuress” Anna Martin
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the small town, Holmfirth, in West Yorkshire – a beautiful place with some fantastic walks, never far from a hill
What’s your single worst fear?
Big House Spiders
What’s the best thing that you have ever done?
Gosh, it is tricky to pick just one thing. Some great achievements in my life have included: saying yes to marrying my new fiancé, visiting the Canadian Rockies, Graduating with distinction and multiple awards
What’s the worst thing about you?
I Like a plan! I am always looking to the future to plan the next thing whether it be a holiday, a family members birthday or a dental course.
What’s your favourite movie?
Dirty Dancing – a great soppy romance
Describe how you looked in 2000?
Where is your favourite place in the world?
Flamborough coastline. Beautiful cliffs, so fresh and peaceful
What are your must listen to artists?
I don’t mind listening to almost anything, but I do love music by Ed Sheeran
What food would you eat for a last supper?
Lentil Bake with Sweet Potato topping followed by dark chocolate Brownie
What TV shows would you site through the adverts to watch live?
I love to travel. As part of my undergraduate training, I spent some time in Nepal. However, my most memorable trip to date has been to the Canadian Rockies where I encountered wild black bears. My next adventure will take me around China where I hope to spot a wild panda.
Otherwise, I love sport – including running, badminton, cycling and climbing. This year I have run The Great North run to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research and will be completing my first marathon in October.
I was born in Huddersfield and grew up in Holmfirth. Loving Yorkshire, I continued on to attend the Leeds Dental Institute where I graduated with distinction in 2014. During my training I was awarded prizes in periodontology (gum health) and paediatrics as well as The Percy Leigh Medal for the most meritorious performance.
I am a member of the Joint Dental Faculties at The Royal College of Surgeons of England (MJDF) and have completed a one year restorative training course in London. Once a month I now work at Manchester Dental Hospital as a TMD Speciality Dentist, helping people with problems with their jaw joints and muscles.
I love the variety of general dental practice and looking after people of all ages. Since graduating I have spent a lot of time reintroducing dentistry to those who have not seen a dentist in many years. I particularly enjoy helping anxious patients to rebuild their confidence in dentistry.
